6 News honored with statewide media awards

The 6 News team learned Thursday they were honored with statewide awards for excellence in journalism.

WJAC-TV won six Keystone Media Awards for stories aired in 2020. The awards are organized by the Pennsylvania NewsMedia Association as a way to, "reinforce excellence by individuals in the news media profession, by recognizing journalism that consistently provides relevance, integrity, and initiative in serving readers and audiences, and faithfully fulfills its First Amendment rights/responsibilities."

Weekend Anchor and Investigative Reporter Crispin Havener won four individual awards, including being named one of the best anchors and reporters in the state and the top two prizes for investigative reporting. The team was also honored for Best Spot News Coverage and Best Digital Presence.

117 Television, radio, and print outlets across the state submitted nearly 2,600 entries in their respective contests, according to the PNA Foundation. 6 News competed for awards in 18 broadcast categories against television outlets in the state outside of Philadelphia and Pittsburgh.
