Cambria Co., PA (WJAC) — Federal authorities announced that a Cambria County woman has been charged with conspiracy to commit healthcare fraud.
According to court documents, Florentina Mayko was charged after she allegedly defrauded Medicare and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, between 2017 and 2019.
Mayko allegedly submitted medically unnecessary urine drug tests for chronic opioid patients at medical clinics where she served as the chief executive officer.
The complaint also alleges the company Mayko worked for billed Medicare for more than $10 million in urine drug tests for two years and Medicare paid out over $4 million for these urine drug tests.
Officials say Mayko faces up to 10 years in prison, if found guilty.
